Panthers to Host Georgia at Coolray Field

Game is March 22 at Home of the Gwinnett Stripers

ATLANTA -- The Georgia State baseball team will host Georgia on Tuesday, March 22 at Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Stripers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

Game time is 6:05 p.m., with gates opening at 5 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

"What a great opportunity for our players to play in a professional park and a top-notch facility like Coolray Field against a nationally-ranked opponent," head coach Brad Stromdahl said. "We're looking forward to a great crowd and an exciting atmosphere. We want to challenge ourselves against top competition and allow our players to experience big-time environments."

GSU head football coach Shawn Ellliott, who has led the Panthers to back-to-back bowl victories, will throw out the first pitch.

The Panthers also experience a minor league park for the Sun Belt Conference Championship, which is held at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., home of the Tampa Bay Rays Double-A affiliate, the Montgomery Biscuits. Georgia State's last regular-season game in a minor league park was in 2013, when the Panthers won two of three games from Boston College at Al Lang Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The game at Coolray Field is the first of two meetings this season between the Panthers and Bulldogs, who will also play at Foley Field in Athens on April 26.
