ATLANTA -- Georgia State senior
Ashley Foster tied the game with a driving layup with 4.7 seconds left in regulation, but the Panthers fell to Appalachian State in overtime, 84-78, Saturday in the final home game of the season and the final women's basketball game at the GSU Sports Arena.
The GSU men's and women's basketball programs will move into the new Georgia State University Convocation Center next season.
Georgia State (8-13, 2-7 Sun Belt) trailed the entire game until a basket by Foster put the Panthers up 68-67 with 2:58 left. Then Foster grabbed a defensive rebound and found
Kamryn Dziak, who nailed her fourth 3-pointer of the game for a 71-67 lead with 2:33 to play.
App State (12-10, 6-3 Sun Belt) responded by scoring seven of the next eight points, taking a 74-72 lead on a free throw with 10 seconds left before Foster's tying basket.
Deasia Merrill scored a career-high 14 points and Dziak also scored 14 to lead the Panthers. Dziak's four treys give her 98 for her career.
Foster, one of four GSU seniors playing her final home game, finished with 11 points.
Taniyah Worth hit a pair of 3-pointers for six points,
Elexus Bell scored five, and
Tehya Lyons contributed three points and three steals.
Michaeala Porter led App State with 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Janay Sanders added 20 points.

Georgia State will now finish the regular season with four straight road games, beginning Thursday at Troy.
