Two Games at Coolray Field Highlight 2023 Baseball Schedule

Opening Day is Feb. 17

ATLANTA -- Thirty home games, including dates against Georgia and Georgia Tech at Coolray Field, highlight Georgia State's 2023 baseball scheduled, announced today by head coach Brad Stromdahl.

With Stromdahl entering his fourth season at the helm, the Panthers are coming off a 30-win season in 2022, including a school-record 15 Sun Belt Conference victories.

Top returnees for the Panthers include All-American Max Ryerson, who blasted a school-record 22 home runs last spring, and pitcher Ryan Watson, GSU's active leader in both wins (13) and saves (12).

Opening Day for the 2023 season is Friday, Feb. 17, when the Panthers face Cincinnati to open a four-game weekend series at the GSU Baseball Complex. Georgia State is opening the season at home for the 12th straight year.

Georgia State will play two home games at Coolray Field, home of the Triple A Gwinnett Stripers, the Triple A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, as the Panthers host Georgia on Tuesday, March 21 and then Georgia Tech a week later on Tuesday, March 28. GSU hosted Georgia at Coolray last season and faced Mercer in a fall game there in October.

> Georgia State will play 17 games against teams that made the 2022 NCAA Tournament, including three games each against Coastal Carolina, Texas State and Georgia Southern, home-and-home against Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama State, and single games against Vanderbilt and Kennesaw State.

> The second weekend of the season is a home series against Brown, which features Olivia Pichardo, the first woman to make a Division I baseball team. Brown opens its season Feb. 24 at the GSU Baseball Complex.

> The non-conference slate also features a series at Clemson and a midweek game at Vanderbilt.

> The Panthers open Sun Belt Conference play at home against Troy the weekend of March 17-19. The 30-game Sun Belt slate also features home series against Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State, Marshall and Georgia Southern, along with road trips to Appalachian State, James Madison, South Alabama, Texas State and Old Dominion.

> For the third straight year, the Sun Belt Conference Championship will be played in Montgomery, Ala., at Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Double A Montgomery Biscuits.
