Panthers Drop to Old Dominion, 3-1

ATLANTA –  Georgia State honored the four Panther volleyball seniors, Ryan Spicer-Gordon, Julianna Truscott, Laura Ehieze, and Isabelle Percoco, prior to Saturday's match against Old Dominion.
 
Despite a hot start by the Panthers, the Monarchs won 3-1, (15-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-22).
 
The teams traded points and were at tied at six-all to open the match. The Panthers opened things up, going on a 9-0 run in the first set. Tough serving by Evoni Lemons kept the Monarchs out of system. The Panthers would win the opening set 25-15.
 
The Panthers fell behind early in the second set, going down 14-10. Lemons once again dished out a series of tough serves to help the Panthers climb back into the set. Kills by Truscott and Clara Bednarek put the Panthers up 20-17. The Monarchs battled back and won the second set, 27-25.
 
Percoco got things started in the third set for the Panthers with a kill. The Monarchs went on a 6-0 scoring run to widen the gap, which would be too much for the Panthers. The Monarchs won the third set 25-18.
 
Tough serving by Bednarek gave the Panthers an early 8-5 lead in the fourth set. Tied at 20-all a pair of errors from the Panthers gave the Monarchs the advantage. The Monarchs were able to close and won the fourth set 25-22 to secure the match victory.
 
Setters Maren Palmer and Jenna Brown tallied 19 assists each. Lemons led the Panthers with 15 digs and three aces. Bednarek and Percoco both notched nine kills each. Ehieze recorded six block assists and eight kills.
 
The Panthers are home for their final matches of the regular season against ULM on November 10 and 11 at 6 PM and 1 PM, respectively.
