Latest GSR Report Shows Continued Academic Success

ATLANTA -- Georgia State student-athletes are consistently graduating at a higher rate than the general student population at the University, according to the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data released by the NCAA on Tuesday.

Georgia State's Student-Athlete Graduation Success Rate is at 86 percent, nine percent higher than the general student body. All GSU athletic teams earned a GSR higher than that of the Federal Rate.

Seven Georgia State programs achieved the maximum GSR of 100 percent: men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, softball, court volleyball and beach volleyball.

In the Sun Belt Conference, Georgia State tied with Appalachian State and South Alabama for the most programs with perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rates.

Federal Graduation Rate indicates the percentage of freshmen who entered and received athletics aid during a given academic year who graduated within six years. The NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) adds to the first-time freshmen, those students who entered mid-year, as well as student-athletes who transferred into an institution and received athletics aid.

The GSR measures graduation over six years from first-time college enrollment. Figures released Tuesday reflect graduation numbers among student-athletes who entered college in 2015. The NCAA Division I Board of Directors instituted the GSR in response to Division I college and university presidents who wanted data that more accurately reflected the mobility of college students than the federal graduation rate. The NCAA has tracked GSR for more than two decades.
