The draw moved GSU to 7-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the Sun Belt while Coastal Carolina went to 3-3-4 on the year and 0-0-3 in conference play. The Panthers currently sit at second in the conference right behind Kentucky with eight conference points.

Coastal Carolina got on the board first, firing a goal from a deflected corner kick into the bottom left corner of the net in the 18th minute. The Chanticleers notched another goal just eight minutes later with a header.

Before the end of the first half Jordan Beam connected with a cross from Matt Taylor that Simon Carlson tapped into the net, his fourth goal of the season, to get the Panthers on the board.

GSU struggled to retain possession in the first half, being held to just two total shots after 45 minutes of play.

The Panthers opened the second period with a stronger attack and were able to keep pressure on the Coastal Carolina back line, tripling their shot total from the first half. GSU found the equalizer in the 48th minute when a corner kick from Ross Finnie met Evan Schroeder in the box who headed in his first goal of the season and his career.

With his goal in tonight's match Carlson now leads the Panthers in goals. Beam and Taylor both recorded their first career assists, Finnie recorded his second of the season.

The Panthers will be back on the pitch Tuesday, October 11 at 7pm to face Incarnate Word. The match will be aired on ESPN+.
