Downtown vs. Midtown Highlights Men’s Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

ATLANTA – With practice slated to start later this month, the Georgia State men's basketball team announced its non-conference schedule on Tuesday highlighted by a match-up with an in-city foe in December.

Following a 16-6 season and third-straight appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship Game, Georgia State's schedule will include matchups against ACC and SEC opponents leading up to the Sun Belt Conference schedule which gets underway Dec. 30.

For a second-straight season, Georgia State will make the short trip across town to McCamish Pavilion to square off with Georgia Tech, this year facing the Yellow Jackets on Dec. 21. Last year, the Panthers knocked off the Yellow Jackets 123-120 in four overtimes on opening night, a game that lasted more than three hours and went on until after midnight.

The regular season gets underway with a pair of home games. Georgia State will host Brewton-Parker on opening night, Nov. 9, before welcoming former CAA foe Northeastern on Nov. 12.

After a road game at Richmond on Nov. 16, the Panthers will travel to High Point for the Legends Classic Nov. 20-21. The Panthers will play two games competing against High Point, Howard, and former CAA foe William & Mary.
Following a road game at Rhode Island on Nov. 27, the Panthers will return home on Dec. 1, to face Tennessee State.

Georgia State will renew its rivalry traveling to Mercer on Dec. 4, the start of another home-and-home series with the Bears. Last year the two teams split an in-season series with each team winning on its home court.

After a home game with Voorhees College on Dec. 6, the Panthers will travel to Mississippi State on Dec. 14. Georgia State will close the home portion of the non-conference schedule on Dec. 18, hosting Toccoa Falls.

The 2021-22 season will mark the last season in the GSU Sports Arena before the Panthers move into the new GSU Convocation Center for the 2022-23 year.

Sun Belt Conference play will get underway on Dec. 30, at Arkansas State.
