Second Straight Road Win, Men's Soccer Tops USC Upstate 2-1

Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Earning a second-straight road victory, the Georgia State men's soccer team scored a 2-1 win over USC Upstate on Saturday night at County University Soccer Stadium.

Freshman Ethan Sassine got Georgia State (2-1) on the board in the 28th minute with his first goal of the season which came off an assist by Justin Guest.

The Panthers went into the half leading 1-0, but quickly double the margin as senior Matthew Fearnley scored his first goal of the season 11 minutes into the second half. Fearnley, who tied for the team lead with five goals in just 13 matches last year, found the back of the net thanks to an assist from Ross Finnie.

USC Upstate (0-3) got one the board with its first goal of the season as Mario Arrocha scored on a penalty kick in the 67th minute.

Georgia State finished the night outshooting the Spartans 15-12, including a 9-7 shots on goal advantaged as Panther goalkeeper Gunther Rankenburg finished with six saves.
