ATLANTA -- Scoring a late goal to secure a win for the men's soccer team on Sunday night, senior George Proctor is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.
Proctor scored on a penalty kick in the 75th minute and Georgia State held on for a 1-0 win over Mercer on Sunday night at Betts Stadium.
Proctor, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, scored a goal in the third-straight regular season he played. The senior missed the regular season opener last Thursday after picking up a red card in the conference tournament championship game last season.
The senior started last week being ranked 43rd on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Preseason Top 100 list. He was also on the MAC Hermann Watch List last season.
Proctor and his teammates will be back on the pitch this Saturday traveling to USC Upstate for a 7 p.m. match.
