Men's Soccer Falls to UNF 3-1 in Opener

Box Score ATLANTA – The Georgia State men's soccer team gave up an early goal and couldn't recover falling to UNF 3-1 on Thursday night at the new GSU Soccer Complex.

UNF (1-0) got on the board just over two minutes into the game as Jovoney Brown found the back of the net with an assist from Herbie Steigelman.

The Ospreys scored again on a penalty kick just before the half in the 44th minute on a goal by Joaquin Acuna.

Freshman Jordan Beam got the Panthers on the board in the 70th minute off an assist from Salar Faryar, but that is as close as the Panthers could get.

UNF added a goal by Mirza Nevoric in the 83rd minute off the Ospreys second penalty kick of the night.

Georgia State (0-1) managed just one shot on goal as compared to five for the Ospreys.

GSU entered the night having won two-straight regular season openers and five-straight home openers dating back to 2016.

The Panthers were playing without senior George Proctor, the 2020 Sun Belt Player of the Year, who had picked up a red card in the conference tournament championship game last year.
