Box Score ATLANTA – In the final exhibition tune-up before the regular season opener, the Georgia State men's soccer team drew with No. 6 Clemson 0-0 on Saturday night at the new GSU Soccer Complex.
It was the play of Panther goalkeeper Gunther Rankenburg who kept the Tigers off the scoreboard with five second half saves as Clemson outshot Georgia State 13-3 on the evening.
Georgia State finished exhibition play with a win and two ties. The Panthers were looking for a second exhibition win over a top 25-ranked Clemson team, the last coming in 2007.
Clemson, which lost in the third round of the NCAA Tournament last year to eventual national champion Marshall, got three shots from both Isaiah Reid and Tim Strobeck.
Senior Matthew Fearnley led the Panthers with a pair of shots as head coach Brett Surrency played 19 different players on Saturday night.
