Men's Basketball Announces Signing of Ja’Heim Hudson

ATLANTA – After helping Wheeler High School to back-to-back state championships, Ja'Heim Hudson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Georgia State as announced by head coach Rob Lanier on Thursday.

Hudson, a 6-foot-7, 225 pound forward, earned AJC Class AAAAAA All-State First Team honors this spring after guiding Wheeler to a second-straight title and a top 25 national ranking. He finished with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds in the championship game against region rival Kell.

247Sports has Hudson ranked as a 3-star and among the top 75 power forwards in the country and No. 30 player in Georgia.

"We are so fortunate to be able to add Ja'Heim to our program," Lanier said. "His character and personality are outstanding. On the court, he's a prototype four man who plays with a high motor, is effective inside the paint and gives an additional 3-point shooting threat. He's a competitor and a proven winner who comes from a great high school program. He makes us better now, and along with our other young guys, sets us up for a very bright future."

As a junior at Wheeler, Hudson helped the Wildcats win the Georgia Class AAAAAA Championship earning AJC All-Cobb County Second Team honors. Heading into the 2020-21 season, Wheeler was ranked 19th nationally by MaxPreps.com with Hudson among the top returning trio.

Before transferring to Wheeler starting with the 2019-20 season, Hudson played at South Gwinnett High School. He has also played for the Game Elite and HYPE Hawks AAU programs.

Georgia State, coming off a 16-6 season including a Sun Belt Conference East Division title and third-straight appearance in the conference tournament championship game, has now signed five newcomers for the 2021-22 season.
