Meet the New Panthers: Evan Graham

With the start of the 2021 football season just three months away, it's time to get to know Georgia State's class of newcomers that will join a GSU program that returns 22 starters from last year's bowl-winning squad.

Today's featured freshman is inside linebacker Evan Graham from St. Petersburg, Fla.

Graham comes to Atlanta from the Sunshine State after a standout career at Boca Ciega High School, where he totaled 205 tackles, eight sacks, five interceptions and five forced fumbles for his career. He was named to thee All-Pinellas County team by the Tampa Bay Times as a junior, when he collected 90 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, five passes defended, three sacks and one interception.

He showed his play-making ability in game vs. Seminole when he made 13 tackles with three sacks and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Graham will try to earn playing time at inside linebacker, where the Panthers return All-Sun Belt Conference player Blake Carroll but graduated one of the leading tacklers in program history in Trajan Stephens-McQueen.

Georgia State opens the season on Sept. 4, when the Panthers host Army at Center Parc Stadium in a noon kickoff on ESPNU. That kicks off the most exciting and challenging schedule in program history, including non-conference games at North Carolina and Auburn and a home date with Charlotte. In Sun Belt Conference play, the Panthers host Appalachian State, Texas State, Arkansas State and Troy while traveling to ULM, Georgia Southern, Louisiana, Coastal Carolina.
