Eight Seniors Help Lay the Foundation for a Bright Future

Georgia State baseball's senior class of 2021 Panthers includes eight individuals who navigated the unique challenges of the last 15 months while helping to lay a positive foundation for the future of Georgia State Baseball. Congratulations to the Class of 2021!

PABLO BARQUERO
LHP, Heredia, Costa Rica

A two-year letterwinner as a left-handed pitcher, Pablo Barquero logged valuable innings out of the bullpen, averaging more than a strikeout per inning, and he recorded the final outs in the Panthers' remarkable comeback victory at Appalachian State to earn his first save. And he finishes his career with a perfect 1.000 batting average after his single at Mercer! The psychology major graduated this semester and made the President's List with a 4.0 GPA.

DALTON DAVIES
RHP, Fort Worth Texas

Dalton Davies is one of three "Super-Seniors" who returned for a fifth year of eligibility in 2021. He contributed this spring as a right-hander out of the bullpen. In his first two seasons at Georgia State, he was a catcher and outfielder. As the Panthers' starting catcher in 2019, he hit .261 with one homer and 15 RBI while leading the team in walks. This semester, he made the Dean's List while earning his degree in health and physical education.

TANNER GALLMAN
C, Calhoun, Ga.

A four-year letterwinner as a catcher, Tanner Gallman logged nearly 100 games behind the plate while maintaining a fielding percentage of better than 95 percent. At the plate, he hit a career-best .306 as a junior, and this season, he delivered a huge run-scoring double in the Panthers' victory at No 2 Vanderbilt. A Dean's List student, he will earn his degree in special education.

RYAN GLASS
1B-OF, Mableton, Ga.

Slugger Ryan Glass is a four-year letterwinner who played first base, third base, outfield and designated hitter. He hit a home run in his very first collegiate at-bat as a freshman and then homered in his final game at the GSU Baseball Complex to give him 19 career home runs, including two grand slams. This season, he was second on the team with eight long balls and fourth with 24 RBI. Glass earned National Player of the Week honors and All-Sun Belt Conference accolades in 2018, when he hit seven homers as a freshman. He earned his degree this semester in Law and Society.

WILL GOLDBERG
C, Atlanta, Ga.

Will Goldberg is a three-year team member who has contributed as a catcher and pinch hitter. This season, he hit .333, and he enjoyed a memorable moment at the plate when he smashed a three-run home run in the ninth inning at nationally-ranked Georgia. He graduated this spring, earned his degree in economics.

TYLER KOCH
LHP, Cumming, Ga.

Another Super-Senior and Georgia State's first-ever five-year letterwinner, left-hander Tyler Koch ranks second in GSU history with 82 career appearances, including two victories and two saves. He has averaged more than a strikeout per inning over his career, punching out 139 in 134.1 innings, with a career-high of seven strikeouts achieved twice against No. 8-ranked Georgia and Mercer. He also has 14 career pickoffs. The Dean's List student earned his degree managerial science in 2020 and is now working on a master's in sport administration.

ELIAN MEREJO
C-1B, Orlando, Fla.

"Super Senior" Elian Merejo has been the Panthers' top hitter and run producer over the last three seasons as a designated hitter, catcher, first baseman and outfielder. He smashed 19 career home runs, along with 27 doubles and 78 RBI. In 2020, he was recognized as the Sun Belt Breakout Player, and this year he was a Preseason All-American and All-Conference selection. Merejo provided many of Georgia State's biggest hits this season, including his walk-on single against 14th-ranked West Virginia, his game-clinching, ninth-inning home run at No. 2 Vanderbilt and his go-ahead homer against Troy. He graduated this semester with his degree in criminal justice.

KALEN PUCKETT
INF, Thomaston, Ga.

Kalen Puckett is a four-year letterwinner who was primarily an infielder but played every position on the diamond except catcher and center field. He made 81 starts at second base, third base, shortstop, left field or right field while also playing some first base and pitching in his 130 career games. Among his highlights this season, he hit his first career home run at ULM, and he delivered the game-tying, two-run double in the eighth inning in the Panthers' 17-15 walk-off win over Troy. He will graduate this year with his degree in health and physical education.
