Panthers Fall in Series Finale at No. 17 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE – Playing its 13th straight game against a nationally-ranked opponent, Georgia State fell 7-0 at No. 17 Tennessee Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
 
Tennessee (11-2) swept the three-game series as the Panthers (4-9) struggled offensively against the Volunteers' strong pitching staff.
 
Georgia State managed six hits today but for the second straight game left nine on base.
 
Shortstop Will Mize had his fifth hit of the series, hitting .455 for the weekend as he extended his hitting streak to seven games. Freshman outfielder Dalton Pearson also hit safely in each game of the series
 
Reliever Dawson Sweatt was the Panthers' most effective pitcher today with two scoreless, hitless innings.
 
The Panthers turned their NCAA-leading 16th double play of the season.
 
Georgia State's challenging schedule continues with a trip to No. 2 Florida Tuesday at 6 p.m. on SECN+.
