Mize Named Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -- Leading the baseball team to a pair of wins over No. 14 West Virginia, Will Mize was named this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.

The shortstop hit. .533 with a homer, two doubles, and four RBI to lead Georgia State to a series split with 14th-ranked West Virginia.

Mize, the Snellville, Ga., native (Brookwood High School), went 8-for-15 while slugging .867 with a .611 on-base percentage in the four games.

In the Panthers' DH sweep Saturday, he was 6-for-7 to pace the Panthers' first wins over a ranked team since 2018 and first ever back-to-back wins over a nationally-ranked foe.

He homered and doubled in GSU's 11-run first-inning in Saturday's 20-4 win, the most runs Georgia State has ever scored against a ranked opponent.

Mize and his teammates will return to the field on Wednesday, hosting Georgia at 3 p.m. at the GSU Baseball Complex.
