ATLANTA -- Leading the men's basketball team to a win over rival Georgia Southern, Corey Allen was named this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Allen scored 19 points including two crucial free throws with eight seconds to play to lead the Panthers to a 79-75 win over Georgia Southern on Thursday night. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and at the time moved the Panthers to within 1.5 games of first place in the East Division.
 
Allen played 37 minutes and added seven rebounds to go with two assists and a steal against the Eagles. He knocked down 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions with less than four minutes to play to take the Panthers from down three to up one with 3:42 to remaining.
 
For the season Allen is averaging a team-high 15.3 points per game, while shooting 49.3 percent from the floor and 45.2 percent from 3-point range which ranks No. 9 in the NCAA.

Allen and the Panthers are scheduled to return to action hosting Troy on Friday and Saturday at the GSU Sports Arena.
