Phuket, Thailand - Georgia State beach volleyball alumuna Georgia Johnson recently earned a top-three finish in the Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships in Phuket, Thailand.
Johnson, and partner Phoebe Bell, accumulated a 6-2 mark throughout the championships en route to a third place finish.
The pair, representing their home country of Australia, opened the tournament winning their first four matches in dominant fashion, before dropping two consecutive. During their two match losing streak, the pair fell in a three-set thriller to the eventual champions, Naraphornrapat and Worapeerachayakorn of Thailand.
Johnson and Bell quickly recovered from their brief two-match slide with a 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) victory over Hasegawa and Sakaguchi of Japan, which earned them an appearance in the third place match.
With the bronze medal on the line, Johnson and Bell earned a 2-0 (21-17, 22-20) victory over Polley and Ziemann of New Zealand to clinch the third place finish.
Johnson, a product of Brisbane, Queensland, has enjoyed a successful professional career since graduating from Georgia State in 2020.
During her time in Atlanta, Johnson enjoyed a stellar career as she compiled a 71-36 record. The former Sandy Panther earned numerous academic accomplishments, while also being tabbed to the 2017 CCSA All-Tournament Team.
