Women’s Golf Announces Signing of Amelie Weber and Sritha Vemuri

ATLANTAGeorgia State women's golf coach Jessica Steward announced the signing of a pair of talented junior golfers on Wednesday who will join the Panthers for the 2022-23 season.

Amelie Weber of Laufen, Switzerland, and Sritha Vemuri of Lake Mary, Fla., have both officially signed with the Panthers.

Weber won the Swiss Golf East Championship in September with scores of 73-73-69. She followed that with a 33rd place finish in the Ladies European Tour Access Series Event, which is a professional tour, with a three-day total of +1 (71-74-72). Weber also finished tied for 33rd in the French International Ladies Championship in October shooting 76-70-77. Earlier last summer, she recorded a fourth place finish in the U18 Swiss Golf National Championship in July and earned a 12th place finish in the overall Swiss National Championships.

"Amelie is a blooming golfer who is passionate about growing along with our program," Steward said. "She has a great technical foundation and is quickly gaining competitive experience on the professional and international levels. I'm confident she will join our program in August and be an immediate asset to our lineup. Amelie is truly excited to become a Panther and I can't wait to see what she can accomplish throughout her time in Atlanta."

Vemuri just won her high school district championship in late October shooting a 1-under par 71. She finished in 11th place in the 2021 IMG Junior Golf Tour - Tour Championship shooting 73-79 earlier this year. Vemuri also finished tied for 3rd in the AJGA Senior Showcase last May with scores of 75-74-75 and in June, at the FCG Challenge Cup World Series, finished sixth shooting 69-74.

"Sritha is committed to becoming the best golfer she can be, which makes her an excellent addition to our team," Steward said. She is a hard worker, both on and off the golf course, so she fits in seamlessly with our culture. Sritha is excited to help our program achieve new heights, and likewise, I'm excited to help her become the impact player we all know she will be."

Georgia State will open the spring season at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic February 7-8, at the Bay Point Golf Club in Panama City, Fla.
