Allen, Nsoseme, and Williams Earn All-Sun Belt Preseason Honors

Panthers Picked to Win League in Preseason Coaches Vote

ATLANTA-With arguably its deepest team returning in program history, Georgia State men's basketball saw three players earn All-Sun Belt Preseason Honors while the Panthers were picked to win the league as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

Senior Corey Allen earned Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team honors, while fellow seniors Eliel Nsoseme and Kane Williams earned Preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team recognition.

Allen earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors last spring, while Nsoseme garnered third team recognition. Williams was also a preseason first team member last year after earning All-Sun Belt Second Team honors in 2019-20.

Allen led the Panthers in scoring last year averaging 15.0 points per game, while grabbing 4.1 rebounds per contest. One of the best 3-point shooters in the conference, Allen shot 42.5 percent from 3-point range which ranked 14th in the NCAA. He knocked down 62 3-pointers despite the fact that the Panthers have played just 22 games. Allen also averaged a team-high 31.6 minutes per game and was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week on Dec. 29, after leading the Panthers to a win over the College of Charleston. He opened the season playing a school-record 50 minutes of a four-overtime win over Georgia Tech.

Nsoseme earned All-Sun Belt Third Team honors and Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament honors last year after being the Panthers leader on and off the court collecting six double-doubles, including two in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Nsoseme averaged 11.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game becoming just the seventh Panther in program history to average a double-double for the season. He was fourth in the NCAA collecting 4.22 offensive rebounds per game and 18th in the country in rebounding. Nsoseme grabbed 20 rebounds against Mercer, the most rebounds in a game for a Panther in 25 years. He was just four points shy that night of becoming just the third Panther to score 20 points and grab 20 rebounds in a game. Nsoseme shot 61.7 percent from the floor and blocked 27 shots, second-most on the team. Four of his six double-doubles came in either conference play or the conference tournament.

Williams averaged 12.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game last year. He was second on the team with 32 steals and averaging 31.5 minutes per game. Williams was one of just three active Sun Belt Conference players with career totals of 1,000 points, 300 rebounds, and 300 assists. A total of 32 Sun Belt players since 1992-93 have reached each of those numbers. He recorded his first career double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds in 48 minutes of a four-overtime win over Georgia Tech. Williams scored a career-high 24 points against Appalachian State in late February as he scored in double figures in all but one game during the Panthers eight-game winning streak.
