Allen Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -- Leading the Panthers to a road split to open Sun Belt Conference play, senior Corey Allen was named this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Allen, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, led the Panthers to a two-game split on the road at Coastal Carolina over the weekend, including a 70-62 win on Saturday.

Allen averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in the two games while going 10-of-17 from the floor, 5-of-11 from 3-point range and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

On Friday night Allen finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while going 6-of-6 from the free throw line as the Panthers stumbled in the opener, 81-69.

On Saturday Allen used a hot-hand from 3-point range to lead Georgia State to a 70-62 win. The senior finished with 22 points, six rebounds, and two assists, knocking down five 3-pointers.

Allen is currently ranked among the top 40 active scorers in the NCAA. For the season he is averaging a team-best 15.4 points per game while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor and 54.2 percent from 3-point range.

Allen and the Panthers will return to the court for two games at Troy beginning on Friday at 7 p.m.
