Men's Golf Announces Spring Schedule Updates

ATLANTA – With a pair of changes and the season set to get underway in two weeks, Georgia State men's golf coach Chad Wilson announced an update to the team schedule on Monday.

The Panthers will now play six tournaments leading up to the Sun Belt Conference Championship as Georgia State looks to claim its ninth conference title all-time.

Georgia State will now open the spring at the Raines Company Intercollegiate Feb. 6-7, at the Country Club of South Carolina for an event hosted by Francis Marion.

Also added to the schedule will be a return trip to the Linger Longer Invitational on Lake Oconee, March 12-14. It replaces the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner that was originally on the spring schedule.

"We have had a couple weeks of practice and the guys are really excited to get the spring season underway," Wilson said. "This is one of our best spring schedules we have had, and it will prepare us well for conference and NCAA Regional play, with an ultimate goal of returning to the NCAA Championship."

After the season opening event in South Carolina, the Panthers will return to the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, Feb. 14-16. The field will include Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, and multiple Sun Belt Conference schools.

Following a trip to the Linger Longer Invitational, Georgia State will close out the month March 27-28, at the Tar Heel Invitational hosted by North Carolina at Finley Golf Course. It will mark the Panthers first trip to Chapel Hill since UNC hosted a fall event in 2003.

It will be followed by a return trip to the 3M Augusta Invitational April 3-4, at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. The Panthers will join an elite field the weekend before the start of The Masters at Augusta National.

Georgia State will close out the regular season traveling up I-85 for the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., April 12-13, at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

The Panthers will look to earn another Sun Belt Championship and win a ninth conference championship at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark., April 25-28.

NCAA Regional play will once again take place at six national sites, May 17-19. The NCAA Championship is set for Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 28-June 2, with the final day of stroke play and the match play portion of the event televised on The Golf Channel.
