Another Addition as Wake Forest Transfer Shamar McCollum Enrolls

ATLANTA -- Outside linebacker Shamar McCollum has enrolled at Georgia State at a transfer from Wake Forest.

McCollum, from Hamer, S.C., played two seasons for the Demon Deacons, totaling 24 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, in 18 games.

He played in seven games in 2020 and collected 10 tackles, including tackles for loss against NC State, Syracuse and North Carolina.

The 6-4, 235-pounder saw action in 11 games as a true freshman in 2018. He made 14 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, vs. North Carolina and Elon. 

At Dillon High School, McCollum was rated the No. 2 player in South Carolina by Rivals and No. 4 by ESPN. He was named second-tam All-USA South Carolina while earning a spot in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, where he had a sack, a pass breakup and a blocked punt that set up South Carolina's tying touchdown. He helped Dillon to the 3A state title with a 15-0 record as a junior, followed by another trip to the state finals as a senior. 

McCollum made 73 tackles with 8.5 sacks as a senior. He had 97 tackles with 40 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and 12 pass breakups as a junior, following 80 tackles, 38 TFL and 15 sacks as a sophomore.
