Panthers Well-Represented in NFL

Georgia State football is well represented in the National Football League as the regular season gets underway.

Brandon Wright, Georgia State's punter and placekicker the last four years, is the latest Panther to earn an NFL spot as he made the practice squad for the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing with the team as a free agent last spring.

Penny Hart, the Panthers' standout receiver from 2015-18, could see his first NFL game action this Sunday in Atlanta. Hart was elevated to Seattle's active roster earlier this week, and the Seahawks open the season against the Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Hart was on the Seahawks' practice squad last season.

New Orleans Saint Wil Lutz continues his standout career as one of the NFL's top placekickers. The former walk-on at Georgia State, who finished his career as the program's all-time leading scorer from 2012-15, is entering his fifth NFL season after making the Pro Bowl in 2019.

Defensive back Chandon Sullivan, Georgia State's first Academic All-American in 2017, enters his third NFL season and second with the Green Bay Packers, where he is expected to serve as the nickel back.

The Panthers' longest-tenured NFL players are wide receiver Albert Wilson and offensive lineman Ulrick John, both members of Georgia State's inaugural team in 2010.

Wilson, the Miami Dolphins; standout, has opted out of the 2020 season. John is currently a free agent. He was a member of the New England Patriots Super Bowl team in 2018.

Wide receiver Robert Davis, who has played for the Washington Football Team (2017-18) and the Philadelphia Eagles (2019), is also a free agent.
