Ellington at Tennessee Voted Top Individual Performance

The votes are in, and the Top Individual Performance in Georgia State's first decade of football, as selected by the Panther Family, is by quarterback Dan Ellington in leading the Panthers to their 38-30 victory at Tennessee last season for GSU's first win over a Power 5 conference opponent.

Ellington edged wide receiver Albert Wilson's standout performance at Arkansas State in 2013 in the final round of voting on Twitter.

On that memorable afternoon at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., Ellington:

- Threw two touchdown passes and ran for the game-clinching score in the fourth quarter to lead 38-30 victory at Tennessee, giving GSU its first-ever win over a Power 5 program
- Passed for 139 yards on just 11 completions and rushed for 61 yards
- After hitting just one of his first nine pass he attempts, he went 10-for-13 the rest of the way, including touchdown strikes of 17 and six yards
- With GSU holding a 28-23 lead with five minutes to play, his spectacular 22-yard scoring run, on which he faked a handoff and then eluded several defenders, sealed the historic victory

Each round of voting throughout the bracket-style competition, which began with eight contestants, was close.
