Men's Golf 'Virtual' Senior Day

As part of a series honoring our senior class, today we take a look at the four members of the Georgia State men's golf team who would have hopefully continued their season at NCAA Regional play next week.

Josh Edgar, Egill Gunnarsson, Ashton Poole, and Severin Soller each played a large role on the team this year. Here is a look back at their careers as we honor them for Senior Day.

Josh Edgar
Over the last four seasons Josh Edgar has competed in 30 tournaments for the Panthers while compiling a 74.22 scoring average in 87 rounds of competition. For all his accomplishments on the course, he was even more remarkable in the classroom where he was a six-time Dean's List honoree before garnering President's List recognition in the fall. He finished a career-best third at the 2019 Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner and then ironically fired a final round 3-under 69 in the same event this year before the season came to an end. Over four years he earned five top 20 finishes with a career-low 4-under par 68 occurring twice.
Egill Gunnarsson
A four-year senior, Egill Gunnarsson competed in 24 events for the Panthers while compiling a 74.06 scoring average in 69 rounds of competition. He garnered three top 20 finishes including a career-best sixth at the 2017 Bridgestone Match Play. One of his most impressive performances came at the 2019 Schenkel Invitational hosted by rival Georgia Southern where he tied for 16th following a final round 70. In the classroom he earned Dean's List honors five times before garnering President's List recognition in the fall. He was having a career-best season before it came to a halt compiling a 73.38 scoring average in 16 rounds of play, including seven rounds of par or better which was second-best on the team.
Ashton Poole
Despite this being Ashton's only season with the Panthers, it was an impactful one as he compiled a 72.13 scoring average in 16 rounds of competition, the eighth-lowest single-season scoring average in program history. A graduate-transfer from Virginia, he led the team with eight rounds of par or better including his first five rounds at GSU which were all in the 60's. After opening the season with a tie for 21st at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate, he tied for seventh at the Marquette Intercollegiate. He garnered another top 20 finish by tying for 17th at the GSU hosted Autotrader Collegiate Classic in October.
Severin Soller
After transferring from Mississippi State, Severin Soller spent three seasons at Georgia State competing in 24 tournaments and compiling a 74.88 scoring average in 67 rounds of competition. He won the first event he played in as a Panther, the Bridgestone Stroke Play, before tying for fourth at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic just weeks later. Those results were a part of six top 20 finishes in three years. In the classroom he has earned President's List recognition in each of the last three semesters while graduating with a degree in business economics.
