With his record-setting football career at Georgia State complete, punter
Brandon Wright now has an opportunity to test his talents at the next level after signing an NFL free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Wright knows the work is just beginning, but he said receiving that phone call was, "Unlike anything I could describe. Whatever happens, I'm just thankful to God and to the Jacksonville Jaguars for the opportunity."
Don't expect him to forget where he came from.
"Georgia State has been everything to me," Wright said. "It's more than just football. It's about the school, it's about the people I've met.
"Because Georgia State is so diverse, I've met so many people from all over. It's an experience that you'll get no where else."
Wright is from Atlanta, but his position group featured kickers from Australia and Dublin ... the one in Georgia, not Ireland.
His Georgia State degree also gives him something in common with the person he knows best - his mother, Erica Bracey. Erica earned her master's degree from Georgia State and now works on campus in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute, serving as the manager of LaunchGSU.
And she is easily the world's most enthusiastic Georgia State football fan!

"Panther Family is definitely more than a hashtag to me," he said.
Throughout his career at Georgia State, Wright was able to interact with his predecessor, current New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl kicker Wil Lutz.

"Knowing Wil Lutz since my freshman year has definitely been a blessing," said Wright, who finished with a career punting average of 43.3 yards to break Lutz's GSU record. "I sat behind him, watched him, trained with him, and picked his brain as much as I could. Just seeing him grinding during the offseason to be the best he can has definitely been motivation.
"Hopefully we'll be able to meet on Sundays."
That is now one step closer to possibly becoming a reality.
