Football Adds Chattanooga and Rhode Island to Future Schedules

ATLANTA – Georgia State announced on Thursday a pair of additions to future football schedules as the Panthers will welcome Rhode Island and Chattanooga to Georgia State Stadium in upcoming years.

Georgia State will open the 2023 season on Sept. 2, hosting Rhode Island. The Rams will be making their first appearance in Atlanta. Georgia State traveled to Kingston, R.I., in 2012 earning a 41-7 win.

The Panthers will welcome Chattanooga to Georgia State Stadium for the first time in Week 2 of the 2024 season on Sept. 7. The Mocs are currently led by former Georgia State assistant coach Rusty Wright. Georgia State and Chattanooga previously squared off in 2013 in the Georgia Dome.

Georgia State has set its non-conference schedules through the 2022 season, with three games set for 2023 and 2024, with two games already scheduled 2025.

The Panthers host East Carolina and Murray State in non-conference action in 2020, while Sun Belt Conference foes Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Louisiana, and ULM make an appearance at Georgia State Stadium.
