Johnson Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -- After helping the women's basketball team to a 44-point victory on Sunday, sophomore Joelle Johnson was named this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Johnson just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds as the Panthers won a third-straight time to improve to 3-1 with a 93-49 victory over Life University.

The 14 points marked a career-high for the second-year student-athlete, while she tied a career-high with nine boards after shooting 5-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free throw line.

Johnson is averaging 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and 85.7 percent from the free throw line.

Johnson and Georgia State will return to the court on Thursday traveling to Athens to face Georgia at Stegeman Coliseum at 7 p.m.
