TUCKER GREGG
Running Back, Junior, Chatsworth, Ga. (Murray County High School)
ON THE FIELD
> Running back known for his downhill style and penchant to run over and through rather than around.
"My mentality has always been that I'm not going to let the first guy take me down," Gregg explained. "I want to make sure it takes all 11 guys on the field to bring me down. I've always just loved the hard-nosed running."
> Georgia State's second-leading rusher with 227 yards and three touchdowns. Averaging a team-leading 6.7 yards per carry.
Deflecting credit, Gregg said, "I feel like we have one of the best offensive lines in the country."
> Made his first start at Arkansas State and responded with a career-high 142 yards on 14 carries, including a 7-yard touchdown run. Took a handoff at he GSU 1-yard line and broke through for a 56-yard run to start the Panthers' 99-yard touchdown drive.
"That was the first time I've broken a long run since high school," Gregg said. "I was all tensed up, making sure I didn't get stripped from behind."
> Joined the team as a walk-on in 2018 and made a name for himself on special teams. Earned a scholarship prior to the 2019 season.
"I was told that special teams was my ticket, so I did everything I could to prove to the coaches that I belonged on this team," he said.
Head coach
Shawn Elliott says:
"What a great story he is, walking on and earning a scholarship and now solidifying himself in our rotation of running backs.
"It's a joy to have him out there each and every day in practice. He works extremely hard in everything he does. He's a special player. Wish we had a thousand of him."
OFF THE FIELD
> A very solidly built 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds, Gregg is meticulous about his nutrition and fitness, setting goals each year for how much weight he wants to add to his body and how much he wants to lift in the weight room.Â
"I typically eat five or six meals a day," he said. "Usually three or four big meals, and then a couple of smaller meals, like a protein shake. I try to eat a lot of protein and a lot of carbs."
> Majoring in exercise science, he is interested in becoming a strength and conditioning coach. Eventually, he says he would like to own his own training facility and perhaps develop a line of nutritional supplements.
> Off the field, he has recently taken up golf, and he enjoys hitting the links with teammates
Aubry Payne and
Charlie Flint. Not surprisingly, Gregg's favorite PGA golfer is Bryson DeChambeau, known for his mammoth drives, enormous physique and fondness for  protein shakes. But no, he can't drive the ball like DeChambeau; "I'm not quite there yet. I've got to hit it straight first."
> Gregg hails from Chatsworth, a small town in Northwest Georgia, but he says he has come to love living in Atlanta and experiencing everything the city has to offer.
