Hill Announces Three New Panthers

Gene Hill and his staff welcomed three new additions on Signing Day.

ATLANTA -- Head women's basketball coach Gene Hill welcomed three new Panthers on Signing Day this season.

Hill and his staff signed Mikyla Tolivert from Melbourne, Fla., Nyla Jean from Tampa, Fla., and Alyssa Phillip from Norcross, Ga.,

"This class is the total package – athletic, versatile, great leaders, competitive, driven, high character, and has a high basketball IQ. We are so excited these three young women have made a choice to join our family. They all had very clear visions of what they wanted their college experience to look like and GSU was a perfect fit," Hill said.

Mikyla Tolivert | 5'8 | Guard | Palm Bay H.S. | Melbourne, Fla.

Named the 2020 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball… Named the Class 5A Player of the Year… 2020 All-Space Coast First Team… Averaged 30.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.9 steals and 3.4 assists per game in leading Palm Bay to a 23-6 record and a spot in the Class 5A regional finals… Scored 30 or more points in 18 games and reached double figures in every contest.

"Mikyla is a skilled guard that brings size to our backcourt. I think it's fair to call anyone who can average 30 points a game a Big-Time scorer! Her ability to shoot the three with range as well as get to the rim allows her to score in a variety of ways." - Gene Hill

Nyla Jean | 5'8 | Guard | Plant H.S. | Tampa, Fla.

Averaged 12.8 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.2 steals per game over her junior and senior years… Helped lead Plant to the Class 7A Florida State Championship game in 2020.

"Nyla is the ultimate leader on the court. She likes to push the ball in transition and plays an up-tempo game.  She can score as well as get her teammates involved. Nyla is a competitor that will look to make plays on both ends of the floor." - Gene Hill

Alyssa Phillip | 6'1 | Forward | Wesleyan | Norcross, Ga.

The junior averaged 11.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals last season for the Wolves' Class A Private Final Four team. She made 52.7 percent of her field goals.

"Alyssa is an incredible young woman that comes from a great program. She loves to run in transition and does not shy away from contact. She can score with her back to the basket as well as face up and use her quickness to get to the rim." - Gene Hill
