Henderson Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

Henderson was named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team on Sunday.

ATLANTA -- Freshman men's soccer defender Alex Henderson scored his first career goal on Friday night at a crucial time earn GSU Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Monday.

Down to possibly the final three minutes of the season, Henderson scored his first collegiate goal in the 87^th minute of the Sun Belt Conference Championship semifinals against Central Arkansas. The goal tied the game 1-1 and after 20 more minutes of scoreless play, the Panthers topped the Bears 4-2 on penalty kicks.

Henderson, from Ipswich, England, was one of the top freshmen in the conference this season, finished the year with a goal and two assists for four total points. He played in all 13 matches and helped Georgia State to a 9-2-2 record.

Georgia State now enters the offseason and will lose just two seniors from a squad that led the nation in scoring.
