Williams and Roberts Earn All-Sun Belt Preseason Recognition

Panthers Picked to Win East Division

ATLANTA-Georgia State senior Kane Williams along with junior Justin Roberts were honored Wednesday as a part of the All-Sun Belt Conference Preseason honors as announced by the league office and voted on by the coaches and members of the media.

Georgia State was also selected to finish in first place in the East Division in the annual preseason poll.
 
After earning All-Sun Belt Second Team honors last year, Williams was placed on the preseason first team ahead of the 2020-21 season. Roberts, who garnered third team recognition last spring, was placed on the All-Sun Belt Preseason Second Team on Wednesday.
 
Williams averaged a team-best 14.8 points per game while grabbing 4.6 rebounds and dishing out 4.4 assists per contest last season. He was named the 2K Empire Classic Riverside Regional Tournament MVP while helping the Panthers to a 19-win season.
 
As a junior he shot 77.6 percent from the free throw line and has swiped 48 steals, the second-most on the team. His 140 assists are the 11th-most in a single season in program history.
 
Roberts, who was playing his first season at Georgia State finished the year averaging 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 40.4 percent from 3-point range. He also shot a team-best 86.6 percent from the free throw line.
 
He was named to the 2K Empire Classic Riverside Regional All-Tournament team and finished the year with a team-high 49 steals. His 3-point shooting percentage finished second in the Sun Belt Conference, while his free throw percentage would have ranked third if he had enough attempts.
