Men's Basketball Announces Updated 2020-21 Sun Belt Conference Schedule

ATLANTA-With a goal of reducing travel and mitigating any potential spread of COVID-19, Georgia State and the Sun Belt Conference announced an updated 18-game league schedule on Thursday.

For this season Sun Belt Conference teams will host one opponent for two games on Friday and Saturday each week. Additionally, teams will only play opponents in their own division, playing four schools a total of four times, while playing their traditional travel partner twice.

The Panthers enter head coach Rob Lanier's second year at Georgia State following a 19-win campaign that saw GSU postseason eligible for a seventh-straight season.
The Sun Belt Conference regular season will go from Friday, Jan. 1, to Saturday, Feb. 27.

Georgia State will open league play with four-straight road games – at Coastal Carolina (Jan. 1 and 2) and at Troy (Jan. 8 and 9).

The Panthers will begin home portion of the conference schedule Jan. 15 and 16 hosting Coastal Carolina, before traveling to Appalachian State (Jan. 22 and 23).

Georgia State will then return home for the rare five-game homestand: South Alabama (Jan. 29 and 30), Appalachian State (Feb. 5 and 6), and Georgia Southern (Feb. 11).

Two days later the Panthers will make the trip to Statesboro to face the Eagles on Feb. 13.

The home portion of the schedule will conclude hosting Troy (Feb. 19 and 20) before closing out the regular season at South Alabama (Feb. 26 and 27).

The Sun Belt Conference Championship will begin Friday, March 5, in Pensacola, Fla. The league's championship game is set for Monday, March 8.

Games times of all games will be announced at a later date.

Georgia State hopes to announce its non-conference schedule soon. Opening night of the 2020-21 NCAA basketball season is set for Nov. 25.
