Bennett Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -- Freshman Andrew Bennett is this week's GSU Student-Athlete of the Week after scoring his first career goals last week as the men's soccer team earned a pair of impressive victories.

Bennett scored his first two career goals and added an assist as Georgia State shutout in-state rival Georgia Southern 3-0 on Friday night.

Bennett found the back of the net for the first time in his career in the 33rd minute to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead over the Eagles. He then earned the assist on Matthew Fearnley's goal in the 57th minute that gave GSU a 2-0 lead. The freshman all but put the match away with a second goal in the 74th minute that gave Georgia State a 3-0 lead. He finished with four shots on goal in 72 minutes of action.

Earlier in the week he came off the bench and finished with one shot on goal as the Panthers earned a 4-1 win over UAB to sweep the season series with the Blazers.

Georgia State will return to the pitch on Saturday for a key Sun Belt Conference match at Central Arkansas.
