ATLANTA-
Morgan Hash has been selected to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team, the organization announced on Monday afternoon. The Academic All-American Volleyball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Hash has been an extraordinary student, holding a 4.15 GPA in Public Health. Last season the senior was named to the Academic All-American Second Team. Hash is the first volleyball player in school history and the sixth Georgia State athlete to be recognized by CoSIDA as an Academic All-American more than once in their career.Â
The senior played all four years at Georgia State. She finished with 492 kills, 73 blocks, and 204 digs. Hash recorded a career high 23 kills in a victory over in-state foe Georgia Southern during the 2017 season.Â
Despite recovering from injury, the Franklin, Indiana native would add 91 kills and 11 blocks this season, including three solo blocks. Hash recorded a season-high 15 kills in the season opener against Western Carolina. She was one of the Panthers most efficient hitters, completing five matches with a .250 hitting percentage or greater.
"What a fantastic way to complete Morgan's career, showcasing her success and determination in the classroom,"said GSU head coach
Sally Polhamus.
Hash is the 33rd Panther in Georgia State athletic history to earn a spot on the Academic All-American team. She is the third Panther volleyball player to receive Academic All-American honors. Overall, GSU has had 18 players recognized by CoSIDA as Academic All-Americans since 2015.Â
Upon graduation in the spring Hash plans to take a gap year before attending PA school.
