Barnett Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA- Senior Tra Barnett is this week's GSU Student-Athlete of the Week. Barnett rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown to lead Georgia State to victory over South Alabama.

The Georgia native recorded his seventh 100-yard game of the season and became the first player in GSU history to top 2,000 career rushing yards, now with 2,039.

With quarterback Dan Ellington limited by a knee injury, Barnett carried the rushing load to give the Panthers their seventh win, marking the first time in the program's 10-year history that Georgia State has reached seven victories during the regular season.

Ninety-four of his yards came in the second half, allowing Georgia State to control the clock and put the game out of reach. His touchdown in the third quarter put the Panthers up 21-3.

Barnett leads the Sun Belt and ranks No. 6 in FBS with a school-record 1,336 yards (121.5 yards per game). His 11 touchdowns are also a GSU record.
