Panthers Fall to Central Arkansas 2-0

GSU is back in action Nov. 9 at Appalachian State

ATLANTA – Georgia State men's soccer fell 2-0 to Central Arkansas Saturday night at the GSU Soccer Complex.

The loss snapped the Panthers' two-match win streak and moved the team to 9-4-3 overall and 1-3 in the Sun Belt. Central Arkansas improved to 9-6-1 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.

The score remained deadlocked at zero for much of the first half despite some early scoring chances from Central Arkansas. The Bears eventually broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute when a set piece was sent into the box and connected with Niklas Brodacki who headed in his 11th goal of the season.

GSU opened the second half with a few threatening score chances from Matthew Fearnley and Aris Briggs, but neither were able to cut into the Central Arkansas lead.

UCA got the insurance it needed in the 85th minute when Vincent Abaso got inside the box and fired a strike that put the Bears ahead 2-0.

Georgia State finished the night with a 12-11 edge in total shots but UCA held a 6-2 advantage in shots on target. Fearnley led GSU with six total shots while Briggs ended the match with four.

Georgia State next heads to Boone, N.C. for its regular season finale 7 p.m. Saturday against Appalachian State at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
