GSU Set to Take on Coastal Carolina in Weekend Slate

Panthers aim to pickup first conference victory

ATLANTA – Georgia State men's soccer looks for its first conference victory of the season as the Panthers travel to take on Coastal Carolina Saturday afternoon in Conway, S.C. Saturday's matchup will be a rematch of the 2018 Sun Belt Tournament Semifinal game, where GSU earned a 2-1 victory over the Chanticleers. 

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
- Coastal Carolina enters the weekend on a two-match win streak, picking up victories over Appalachian State and College of Charleston. The team's four goals against Appalachian State were a season high.
- Reigning Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week Tsiki Ntsabeleng, Tyrone Mondi and Sam Smaith lead the Chanticleers with eight points apiece. Ntsabeleng ranks ninth in the conference in points per game (0.80).
- As a team, Coastal Carolina ranks tied for second in the Sun Belt with a 1.50 goals per game average against conference opponents.
- Saturday will be the 13th all-time meeting between Georgia State and Coastal Carolina. While GSU has won the last two matchups, CCU leads the series 8-4 and owns a perfect 5-0 record against the Panthers in matches played in Conway, S.C.

LAST TIME OUT
- Georgia State fell to Howard 2-1 last Saturday in Washington, D.C. The Bison scored two goals within the final five minutes to earn the win over GSU.
- George Proctor scored the lone goal for the Panthers in the 26th minute, his third goal of the season.
- The loss snapped Matthew Fearnley's streak of four consecutive matches with a goal.
- Goalkeeper Paul Tyson finished the match with six saves, one shy of tying his season high set on Oct. 8 against Lipscomb.
