LEADING OFF

>Georgia State has won seven of its last 10 games to enter Sun Belt Conference play at 11-6. The Panthers have won or swept the first four weekends. Three of GSU's six losses have come to current Top 15 teams Ole Miss and Auburn.

>Friday starter Hunter Gaddis is the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete-game, 3-hit shutout with a career-high 10 strikeouts and no walks in Friday's 2-0 win at Samford. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

>Gaddis is 4-0 with a 0.64 ERA, which leads the Sun Belt. He is tied for the NCAA lead in victories.

>In last Saturday's 1-0 victory at Samford, starter Jake Rogers allowed two hits and struck out a career-high eight in 7.1 scoreless innings, and Jansen Acton pitched the final 1.2 innings for the save. Rogers also started a combined shutout vs. Jacksonville.

>The GSU staff threw 20 straight scoreless innings in the Samford series.

>Georgia State leads the nation with 23 double plays turned.

>Junior catcher Nick Gatewood leads the Panthers with three homers along with nine RBI and a .300 average, and he has thrown out eight of 14 runners attempting to steal. He was named last to the watch list for the 2018 Johnny Bench Award as the nation's top catcher.

>Senior shortstop Justin Jones is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America, earning second-team honors in 2017 after third-team accolades in 2016. His GPA, which is now 4.11, was the highest on the entire Academic America team.

>The GSU weekend rotation of Hunter Gaddis, Jake Rogers and Jordan Lee has a 9-1 record and a 2.16 ERA.

>Gaddis was 4-4 with a 3.72 ERA as a freshman while pitching as the Saturday starter. Following his standout rookie season, Gaddis became the first Panther to pitch for the Team USA Collegiate National Team in the summer of 2017.

>Georgia State's 2018 schedule is perhaps the most challenging in school history, highlighted by Power 5 foes Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Minnesota and Ole Miss.

>Now in his 12th season, head coach Greg Frady is Georgia State's career victory leader with 340 for the Panthers as part of his 527 career wins.

THE SERIES WITH UT ARLINGTON: Georgia State and UT Arlington began playing in 2014 when both schools joined the Sun Belt Conference.

>The series is tied at 6-6.

>Three of the first four series were played in Atlanta. The only previous series in Arlington was in 2015, when Georgia State earned a three-game sweep. The Panthers won 5-2 on Friday and then claimed back-to-back extra-inning games, 6-4 (11) and 2-1 (10).

>UTA won two of three in Atlanta last season. In the Panthers' 2-1 win on Saturday, Hunter Gaddis had a no-hitter through seven innings before allowing a solo homer to lead off the eighth. Gaddis allowed one run on two hits with six strikeouts in 7-2/3 innings. Shortstop Justin Jones hit the go-ahead solo homer in the bottom of the eighth.

>Jones also figured prominently in 2015. He drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th in Sunday's 2-1 victory.
