ATLANTA – Georgia State men's soccer earned its second straight victory with a 2-1 win over Gardner-Webb Tuesday night at the GSU Soccer Complex, getting the game-winning goal from Aris Briggs in the 75th minute.

The win bumped the Panthers to 8-4-1 on the year and dropped Gardner-Webb to 3-8-1 overall. Tuesday's victory improved Georgia State to 5-2 at home this season and was GSU's seventh victory in eight meetings with the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Both teams battled for possession for much of the first period, but freshman Logan Luque broke the scoreless tie when Tristan Jumeau delivered him a pass near the right side of the box that Luque buried in the back of the net and put the Panthers ahead 1-0 in the 23rd minute. The goal made Luque the 11th different player to score for GSU this year.

Gardner-Webb fought back in the second half, scoring the equalizer in the 74th minute with a goal in transition. It took only one minute for the Panthers to find their answer, as Dylan Morris fired a cross that connected with Aris Briggs who tapped in the game-winning goal.

Paul Tyson ended the night with four saves and his eighth win of the season. Tuesday was the fifth time Tyson has recorded four or more saves in a single match, bringing his season total to 39, the third-most in the Sun Belt.

Georgia State returns to action 7 p.m. Saturday for a match against in-state rival Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. Fans can watch the match live on ESPN+ or follow along via live stats.
