LEADING OFF
* Georgia State opened the season with wins over Marshall (8-3), Western Michigan (6-4) and BYU (3-2, 10) to move to 3-0 for the first time since the 2011 season.
* After Tuesday's scheduled game at Kennesaw State was rained out, the Panthers head on the road for the first time for a three-game series at Jacksonville, which is coming off a victory over No. 2 Florida on Tuesday.
* Both teams had 3-2, walk-off victories in their last game. Georgia State downed BYU in 10 innings Monday, while the Dolphins defeated Florida in the bottom of the ninth on Tuesday.
* Third baseman Romero Greer, a transfer from Pensacola State, is off to a hot start, hitting .667 (8-for-12) with three RBI and four runs scored while playing stellar defense. His batting average leads the Sun Belt and ranks sixth in the NCAA.
* Senior center fielder Ryan Blanton is hitting .385 with a team-leading five RBI. He led off the 2017 season with a home run vs. Marshall, the fifth time in his career he has led off a game with a homer.
* Friday starter Bryce Conley allowed just one unearned run on two hits and tied his career high with nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings in the Opening Day win over Marshall. Conley led the Panthers last season with 70 strikeouts in 59 innings.
* Two players who missed the 2016 season due to injury have figured prominently already for the Panthers. Outfielder-DH Cam Sperry (knee) went 4-for-4 on opening day and is hitting .400. Relief pitcher Logan Barnette (shoulder) earned the victory over BYU with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
* Georgia State's 2017 schedule is perhaps the most ambitious in school history. The 2017 slate includes four different Power Five opponents and 13 games against 2016 NCAA Tournament teams, including a home series with Coastal Carolina, the defending national champions and the newest member of the Sun Belt Conference.
* Eleventh-year head coach Greg Frady is Georgia State's career leader in victories with 310 after passing Mike Hurst (293) on March 20, 2016. In the last year he has also been honored with two different Hall of Fame inductions, joining the German Baseball and Softball Hall of Fame and the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame.
* Frady is just three victories shy of 500 for his career, including 187 wins at North Florida C.C.
* All but three players on the 2017 roster hail from Georgia, including 26 Panthers from the Atlanta area. Only Jaylen Woullard (Mississippi), Romero Greer (Texas) and Jansen Acton (Alabama) are not from the Peach State.
THE SERIES vs. JACKSONVILLE
* Jacksonville holds a 19-14 lead in the series, but the two schools have not met since 2005, Georgia State's final year in the Atlantic Sun Conference before moving to the Colonial Athletic Association.
* Georgia State won the most recent series against the Dolphins, two games to one at Jacksonville, including a 6-4 win the last meeting on March 20, 2005.
* The two schools first met in 1970 with an 11-10 Georgia State victory.
* Georgia State and Jacksonville were conference-mates in the Sun Belt Conference in 1979-81 and in the TAAC/Atlantic Sun Conference from 1999-2005.
* The Panthers are playing in Florida for the first time since taking two of three from Boston College in a series that was played at Al Lang Field in St. Petersburg.
