ATLANTA -- Jarrett Hood's walk-off single capped a three-run 11th inning and lifted Georgia State to a 5-4 victory and a series win over Appalachian State Sunday at the GSU Baseball Complex.

Hood's clutch hit was his second walk-off hit of the season and the fifth for the Panthers.

Georgia State (18-21, 7-11 Sun Belt) trailed 4-2 in the bottom of the 11th when James Clements led off with a single up the middle. With one out, Jack Thompson fought his way to a 3-2 count by fouling off several pitches before belting a double to left center to score Clements, who had moved up to second on a wild pitch.

Then Jaylen Woullard singled through the left side to score pinch runner Will Johnson from second base with the tying run.

Justin Jones dropped a single into shallow right field and Joey Roach drew a walk to load the bases for Hood, who laced the first pitch from Brian Bauk (2-2) into left field for the winning hit.

That made a winner out of redshirt freshman and converted infielder Andy Burnett (1-0), who recorded the final out of the top of the 11th to earn his first collegiate victory.

"Wow, that's all I can say. It feels great to win," head coach Greg Frady said. "I thought so many of our hitters like Jack Thompson, Jaylen Woullard and Justin Jones, made really good adjustments at the end of the game. I'm really proud

GSU starter Bryan White pitched into the sixth inning and allowed just one run on three hits, two of which were bunt singles. He struck out a career-high seven. Alex Hegner allowed one run on a solo homer in 3.1 innings.

Georgia State took an early 2-0 lead on Roach's RBI-single in the first inning and then Will Kilgore's sacrifice fly in the second inning, but the Panthers couldn't manage anything else off Appalachian State starter Colin Schmid, who pitched 6.2 innings.

App State (11-29, 6-15) scored its first run in the sixth inning, stringing together two bunt singles, a walk and a fielder's choice. Then the Mountaineers tied the game on Tyler Stroup's solo homer in the seventh.

The scored remained that way until the 11th, when App State put together a two-out rally. Matt Vernon and Bauk singled, and both came home on Parker Henderson's double to the left field corner. Burnett came on to record the third out, but the Mountaineers led 4-2.

Woullard and Thompson had three hits each for the Panthers, while Jones and Hood had two.

Georgia State's homestand continues as the Panthers host Kennesaw State Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the GSU Baseball Complex.
