Whittaker Wins Discus at Ga. Tech Invitational

ATLANTA – Junior Alysiah Whittaker won the discus throw to lead Georgia State on Day 2 of the 21-team Georgia Tech Invitational at George Griffin Track on the campus of Tech.

The junior from St. Louis tossed the discus 48.47m (159-0) to win the 17-thrower competition. Her throw was the fifth-longest ever in school history, but just her third-best toss of her career. Teammates Sharonda Bryant and Alexandria Jackson were fourth and fifth to give GSU three of the top five finishers in this event.

Whittaker joins teammate LaPorscha Wells, who won the hammer throw Friday, as winners of events at the Tech Invitational.
