What You Need to Know:

• After a midweek game at Mercer, the Panthers host UT Arlington next weekend.

Lafayette, La. -- Georgia State fell 4-1 at No. 29 UL Lafayette Saturday as the Ragin' Cajuns swept the Sun Belt Conference series at Tigue Moore Field.

Joey Roach hit his fifth homer of the season with a solo blast to right field in the first inning.

Throughout the series, Georgia State (12-12, 2-4 Sun Belt) got quality pitching, but the Panthers struggled to get key hits. Today, sophomore right-hander Bryan White pitched into the sixth inning, allowing four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

"We battled all the weekend on the mound. I think our pitchers deserve a lot of credit for pitching against a good offensive baseball team in a tough environment," head coach Greg Frady said. "All the games were close, and we made pitches when we needed to. That was the good part. The down side is that we are missing that timely hit to score some runs. When you play a good team, you have to make all those things happen."

With GSU leading 1-0, ULL (15-9, 6-3 Sun Belt) tied the game in the third inning, took the lead with a run in the fourth and then added two more in the sixth.

The Panthers managed six hits on the day, and Jarrett Hood had two of them. The junior third baseman has hit safely in every game but two this season.

Georgia State plays at Mercer on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then returns home to host UT Arlington in a weekend series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
