The Jaguars meanwhile were playing well and finished with 10-of-18 3-point baskets (56%) and 29-of-56 overall (52%). South Alabama made 22 assists in netting its 29 baskets.

“South Alabama came out strong and played well, both offensively and defensively, so give full credit to them,” coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener. “We missed easy shots early in the game and dug ourselves a huge hole. They played really, really well and we simply didn't play well at all.”

GSU scored the opening basket and then South Alabama scored seven straight points. The Jaguars had a 10-point lead at 17-7 and led 22-15 at the end of the quarter. A strong second quarter (28-14) saw the host Jaguars up by 50-29 at the half. South Alabama was 6-of-10 beyond the arc in the first half and 56 percent overall (15 of 27).
