TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Georgia State sand volleyball team finished second in the Team Cup results in the Florida State Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla. The Panthers were eight points behind tournament leader Florida State.
The Panthers accrued 45 points, second only to Florida State's 53. South Carolina was third with 33 and UL Monroe was last with 31.
In the silver pool, Georgia State's No. 2 pair of Jansen Button and Sara Olivova were a perfect 3-0. Button and Olivova defeated pairs from UL Monroe, South Carolina and Georgia State's No. 1 pair, Moriah Bellissimo and Katie Madewell. Madewell and Bellissimo defeated pairs from South Carolina and UL Monroe, finishing 2-1.
In the bronze pool, Georgia State's No. 3 flight of Katelyn Rawls and Sarah Agnew went 2-1. The pair won over South Carolina and UL Monroe, but fell to a pair from South Carolina.
In the AA pool, Milani Pickering and Natalie Wilson, Georgia State's No. 4 flight, went undefeated.
The Panthers have just one regular season date remaining on their schedule before the AVCA National Championship. Georgia State will travel to UAB for matches between UAB and Tulane on April 26.
