Men's Soccer Falls In Season Opener to Liberty 1-0

ATLANTA - The Georgia State men's soccer team, despite having 14 shots at the Liberty net, fell to the Flames 1-0 in its season opener on Friday. 

The first half was dominated by Georgia State, as it outshot Liberty 9-1. Neither team, however, managed to score by halftime. After each team made halftime adjustments, Liberty came away outshooting Georgia State 6-5 in the second stanza. 

Liberty capitalized on one of its six opportunities with 10 minutes remaining in the match. The Flames' Jonutan Torres scored the only goal of the match at 80:32 from a pass from Jamie Foxwell.

Georgia State had a total of 14 shots, four coming from sophomore William Mellors-Blair. Nine of the Panthers' 14 shots came in the first half.

The Panthers will hit the road for their next six games, starting with Kentucky on Sept. 1.
