TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Georgia State volleyball team won 22 sets at the Florida State fall exhibition event. Florida State, South Carolina and the Panthers all competed Saturday.
Georgia State had 11 different pairings over the day, with two pairs winning four sets each. Sophomores Sara Olivova and Jansen Button won four sets, as did sophomore Nikki Senopoulos and senior Molly Smestad.
Sophomores Alexis Elmurr and Karlee Kavanaugh won three sets, while sophomore Katelyn Rawls and freshman Sarah Agnew won two sets. Graduate student Moriah Bellissimo and sophomore Kaitlynn Hufstetler also won two sets, as did freshman Delaney Rohan and Bellissimo.
This was the only fall date for GSU. Georgia State's spring season will begin March 8, 2014, at the North Florida tournament.
The Panthers return 11 of 12 players from last year's squad and have added five newcomers to the team. The inauguarl season of Georgia State sand volleyball saw the team go 6-7 and sent a pair to the AVCA National Championship semifinals.
