Volleyball Falls to Colorado, 3-1

FULLERTON, Calif. -- Colorado's Kerra Schroeder had 21 kills as the Buffaloes took down Georgia State, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22), in the opening match of the Titan Classic in Fullerton, Calif.

"Colorado is a strong opponent, but we fought hard," said head coach Tami Audia. "Our team learned last weekend to never give up and they continued that practice tonight. Tomorrow's matches against Cal State Fullerton and Montana will also be good tests for our team."

The Buffaloes claimed the first set, 25-22, but the Panthers rallied in set two to win it 25-23. After Colorado claimed the third set, 25-17, the Buffaloes finished off the match in the four set, 25-22.

In a losing effort, senior Ashley Jones had 13 digs and 11 kills, while redshirt junior Vineece Verdun had 15 kills, five digs and five block assists. Junior Muki Kangwa had 12 kills and seven service aces. Libero Audrey Cantrell had 20 digs. Setter Chelsea Perry had 33 assists. Colorado held a .283 to .198 team attack by set advantage, and committed five less errors on attacks than the Panthers.

The Buffaloes Alyssa Valentine had 51 assists and 15 digs to record a double-double.

The Panthers (3-1) return to action at 4:30 p.m. EST when they face off against host Cal State Fullerton.
